Biggar Community Council is holding a public meeting to listen to the community's views on the application for 100 new houses between Station Rd and the Boghall/Tinto View areas. Everyone with a view, either for or against the application, is welcome to attend.
The meeting will take place on Monday 3rd June at 7.30 PM in the Municipal Hall If you can't make it to the meeting, we will be launching paper and online questionnaires to gather views in the next couple of weeks. The Community Council will reflect the views expressed in our response to the application. An application has now been lodged with South Lanarkshire Council for development of the land at Boghall.
Anyone wishing to look at the application documents online can do so by typing the application number P/19/0727 into the SLC Planning Search page: https://publicaccess.southlanarkshire.gov.uk/online-applications/search.do?action=simple and links to all of the documents should come up. This will include a public meeting and a survey. More details of this will be available soon. We have been asked by Hélène, Food Policy Officer at the South Lanarkshire Council to inform members of the Biggar Community about a survey which may be of interest.
South Lanarkshire Council is currently developing a Good Food Strategy and a broad consultation process is under way to gather views of people across South Lanarkshire on the proposed objectives of the Good Food Strategy. During the closures the journey between Dumfries and Edinburgh will not serve Biggar. The nearest points to Biggar for these journeys will be either Coulter or Dolphinton. Due to the diversion, delays on these routes are to be expected. Journeys between Biggar and Edinburgh will commence and terminate at Leafield Road, Biggar. There is a definite line of enquiry which also involves a similar incident that occurred during that night at a shop premises in West Linton.
As part of the police enquiry efforts are being made to identify 3 male occupants of a black Range Rover, and 2 male occupants of a white van, seen in suspicious circumstances in the vicinity of Biggar High Street between 0100-0400hrs on 02 May 2019. The police say that in the circumstances it would appear likely that the perpetrators are not local to the Biggar area.
