The Community Council survey to assess views on the proposal for 23 new houses at Loaningdale Paddock has now closed and we have submitted a response to SLC which reflects the views expressed. 173 people completed this survey. 51% of respondents were against the proposal, 38% were in favour and 11% were unsure about it. The main reasons people were against the proposal were concerns about the ability of local infrastructure to cope with more people; concerns about road safety on Carwood Rd, and a view that there was already enough housing in Biggar. Those in favour of the proposal felt that there was a need for more housing, particularly affordable and socail housing, and felt that the development would benefit the local economy. The Community Council's response to SLC, which includes all of the survey responses is available below.
It will probably take SLC some time to decide on this application, but we will keep you informed of progress.
