Six additional nights of work have been scheduled from Wednesday 6 March to Monday 11 March. Exactly the same road closure and diversion will be in place each night as for previously advertised works. Pettinain) (TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE) ORDER 2024 South Lanarkshire Council, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended by the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991, and of all other enabling powers, has made the following Order: - 1. This Order may be cited as “South Lanarkshire Council (C29 Carstairs Junction to Pettinain and Glentisset Road, Pettinain) (Temporary Road Closure) Order 2024” and shall come into operation at 8am on Tuesday 19 March 2024 and will remain in operation for up to 11 days. Alternative Routes via: C36, Dunsyre Road, Main Street, A721, Ogscastle Road, C36 and vice-versa Good afternoon BEAR Scotland, acting on behalf of Transport Scotland, are planning to carry out essential tree removal works between Hartside and Causewayend to address areas of potentially hazardous trees. The works will start on the Saturday 17 February and will last twelve nights until Wednesday 28 February. The works will take place between the hours of 20:30 and 05:30 each night. During these works the A702 between Hartside and Causewayend will be closed for safety, with diversion routes signposted as detailed in the table below. This will add an extra 11 miles and 17 minutes on to the expected journey time. The same diversion will be used in reverse when travelling southbound. Location of works Duration Work hours Traffic management A702 Eastbound and Westbound 17 February (12 nights) 20:30 – 05:30 At Maidencoates roundabout, road users will be diverted along the A73 to Lanark, and then along the A70 and A721 until connecting back on to the A702 at Melbourne Crossroads.
