'The Scottish Government's Planning Reporter recently turned down an appeal by Gladman Developments and others against the new South Lanarkshire Local Development Plan. The appeal claimed that the plan did not allocate enough land for housing in Clydesdale, but the Reporter disagreed, and upheld the plan. This means that Gladmans chances of getting land at Boghall Avenue re-zoned for housing have been reduced.
Gladman are still appealing against South Lanarkshire's decision to refuse to allow new housing on land at Boghall Avenue, but this second appeal now looks unlikely to succeed.

Biggar Community Council is looking to fill some vacancies. Anyone who lives in Biggar is eligible to join. The Community Council works with other organisations in the town to make Biggar the best it can be, organises community events and consultations, works with SLC to find solutions to local issues, and was in the process of developing a local resilience plan for emergencies when COVID hit! You don't need any particular skills or experience to join BCC, you just need to care about Biggar and the people here and have enthusiasm and a couple of hours a week to spare. People between 16 and 50 are currently under-represented on BCC, so we would particularly welcome applications from this age group. If you are interested in joining BCC please contact [email protected] for an application form. If you can't commit to becoming a full member of the Community Council, you could become an associate member covering a group or issue that matters to you. Contact [email protected] if you are interested in becoming an associate member of BCC The video below give more information about what Community Councils do, or just ask one of the Community Councillors. The Cash4Clubs scheme offers funding for sports clubs. This year there is extra funding available to help clubs get through COVID. Find out more here.
