Biggar Community Council has 2 Vacancies. The role of the Community Council and its Councillors is to bridge the gap between the community the local authority (in our case, South Lanarkshire Council) and to act as a voice for the local area. This involves them articulating the views and concerns of local people in their area on a wide range of issues of public concern and making representations to their Council, other public sector bodies and private agencies on matters within their sphere of interest. Community Councillors are ordinary people who care about our community and want to make it as good as it can be! If you are interested in becoming a Community Councillor, then please download and complete the nomination form and return it by the closing date of 20th December 2019. All Community Councillors have to sign and abide by the Code of Conduct. You can read this by clicking on the link. If you would like any more details, or would like to discuss your potential nomination with one of our community councillors, then please go to our Contact Us page.
