Following some negative comments on social media, we would like to publicly restate our aim to be transparent, inclusive, open, engaging and welcoming of input from members of our community. We have demonstrated this quite clearly since the current CC was elected in October 2018 and we will continue in the same vein in future. We deny any suggestion that we are only interested in causes with which we are personally involved. As Community Councillors, we have a duty to act in the interests of the local community which we have been elected to represent. Our actions comply with the following principles:
Service to the Community (Public Service), Selflessness, Integrity, Objectivity, Accountability and Stewardship, Openness, Honesty, Leadership and Respect. We are very keen to use social media to inform, advise, respond to questions and collate community opinions when required, but we do not believe this is the best platform to respond to personal criticism from members of the public. Therefore, in such cases, we do not intend to enter into protracted arguments on Facebook. The next BCC Meeting will be on Monday 18th March at 7pm in the Library Meeting Room and members of the public are very welcome to attend and raise particular issues there. We prefer this approach to being slandered on social media.

Peter, the process is known as an "election" and the members are known as "elected". This is the case regardless of whether a vote was put to the eligible residents.
