SLC has published their programme of proposed cuts for the next financial year and there are some things which might affect the environs of Biggar including: 1) Proposal to reduce staffing responsible for ad hoc repairs to play equipment, tree felling, infrastructure repairs etc 2) Mowing of slopes - completely cease any mowing of slopes. 3) Not mowing land which does not belong to SLC unless the owner pays for it. 4) Reduce hedge cutting to once a year maximum. 5) Reduce the opening hours of Biggar sports centre. 6) Reduction in classroom materials and various other cuts to school resources. 7) Increasing Primary 1 class sizes. 8) Various issues relating to social care.
