The number of confirmed cases of corona virus in Scotland is increasing. Some people in Biggar are already self-isolating because they have symptoms of this virus, and there will be other cases in our community.
NO-ONE WANTS TO INFECT THEIR FRIENDS OR RELATIVES. DON'T TAKE RISKS WITH THEIR LIVES. It is of the utmost importance that we reduce the pace of spread of this virus so our hospitals can cope with the patients who become seriously ill. The advice given here is designed to reduce the spread and protect our community from being overwhelmed with cases of the virus. THE COMMUNITY ACTION GROUP, WHICH INCLUDES OUR GPs AND PHARMACISTS, WOULD LIKE TO CLARIFY THE LATEST ADVICE AND WHAT IT MEANS FOR OUR COMMUNITY. What is Social Distancing and who should be doing it? EVERYONE should be social distancing: Children, youngsters off school, pregnant women, fit adults and especially the elderly and health compromised Social distancing means that people can still go out for walks in uncrowded areas. When you meet people outside KEEP YOUR DISTANCE - STAY AT LEAST 2 METRES APART and do not make physical contact. It is also important that you WASH YOUR HANDS carefully before leaving the house and upon returning home. If you are over 70, or under 70 with underlying health problems, or are pregnant, then you should ABSOLUTELY AVOID crowded areas such as shops or pharmacies and avoid visiting friends or family, or have them visit you.
